The Central Players

Central High School's Premier Acting Troupe

In my 2nd year of teaching I established The Central Players - an after-school club that was dedicated to bringing quality entertainment and thought-provoking theatre to our school community.

This picture is from the first show we ever did: Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream (because it was free!).  My King Oberon, Danny (fourth in from the left) was a crucial factor in me starting The Central Players.  His passion and belief in having a quality theatre program at Central made me want to have one, too.

In the years since he graduated from Central, Danny died doing what he loved to do: taking pictures and making art.  Every Central Players performance is secretly dedicated to him and once a year, a cast member who has shown the most dedication and drive gets an award named after Danny.

Danny may be gone, but his spirit lives on our stage forever.

The Classic, Comical Farce

With a cast of 25+, this show was easily one of our biggest shows to date. With ridiculous props like an Egyptian sarcophagus and a roach motel, this play kept the audiences reeling with laughter night after night.

Seniors Brandon Jorge & Arnold Setiadi shared the role of Sheridan Whiteside, both to much acclaim & prestige.
